Christmas tis the Season to be Jolly

What are your feelings about eating meat?

This Christmas you’ll be tucking into some warm, succulent turkey I imagine! Although, nothing wrong with cooking any large bird, or having any alternative meats!

I’ve been venturing to different areas, some more decorated and in the spirit than others. I have my list of go to places for a meal or drink – those which are nice, have a Christmas theme going and are generally happy in nature. Unfortunately, where I live there isn’t many decorations around the town. Only a little. But I can always travel which is what I have been doing!

If you are looking for gifts to buy people, I’m sure you will have plenty of options. I found this site to give me some ideas –

Then there is the Etsy website. It’s full of great gifts and for reasonable prices.

The time of year to relax, have fun and get into the spirit. Maybe you should try out a Christmas market. I’ve been trying to find one that stands out. As I said I have my preferences for locations to visit, but they never have a massive market. Some places have mostly food stalls. My recent trip to the Intu Trafford Center revealed a small festive fairground with ice skating which I did not know about! I will be going back at some point.

I also hope to be able to do some skiiing over this winter. I doubt it will be on a real mountain, but I nonetheless want to. That’s a great day out if you are struggling with things to do with the family. I’m hoping to spark some creativity in you by sharing this post. A lot of people are alone and struggle at Christmas. Why not go out and do it yourself? What I mean is that if you are struggling for ideas on what to do you should just do it yourself because you will probably have a good day.

There are loads of Christmas pantomimes on this time of year and a load of Christmas themed shows. Not to mention the markets in the cities, although primarily food based are still a good way to socialise if you are lonely.

Don’t feel pressured into being happy and cheery though. You aren’t doing anything wrong by simply not having a good time. People struggle, it’s human nature.

Together we can build a better life

but alone we may feel full of strife

we sit and we commute

we eat and we wait

patient is the night owl

who flies before dawn

... and our feelings overthrow our hearts

ice under the feet

waiting to meet, someone

when they arrive all the while

alone and empty

or so we think

Rain – a poem about the weather. Fitting since it’s hard rain at the moment!

Many people seem to be lonely, alone or wanting more company. Obviously, the last few years has been difficult and more isolating for everyone.

However, I looked at my own life and realised I too have become a victim of this loneliness. Before – or at least before the pandemic – I was perfectly content alone and being by myself. Only have I realised this last year has been particularly isolating for me and having developed a depression as well has made it difficult. I never considered being lonely a factor, but it is. I do interact with people, just not as much as I used too. Plus having lifelong health condition is itself a factor in depression too.

Why am I sharing this? Well, I wanted to talk about my feelings because I am sure others have felt this way too. Many of us go day to day without sharing a though or word with anyone. Talking to people is a great way to socialise and of course improve mental wellbeing. That doesn’t mean you have to talk about your feelings all the time, just that if you are lonely you are allowed to say that. Don’t be afraid to talk about your feelings.

It’s okay not to be okay. I reiterate this with love. I also feel like WordPress and my followers are an extended family. I enjoy reading all your posts and seeing your lives. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful platform and sharing your posts with me and others.

After World Mental Health Day 2022 yesterday, how are you feeling today? I myself have struggled with elements of mental health and poor wellbeing, and at times to the point I could not get out of bed. At the moment I am doing okay, getting through each day, using a new medication which is aiding sleep. See what I did there? I talked about how I feel, and what is happening. The only difference with this is that it is online so you can only respond through comments, not vocalisation! The takeaway? Get together with someone and talk! Talk about anything and anything. Address how you both feel if needed and develop and grow. Need support? Go get it.

With so many people struggling it is not something I am happy to look over when I post. That is why I started this post by talking about mental health. Irregardless of the last two years people have always struggled.

Now onto some recent events in the world. I’ll throw in some interesting pieces too. The biggest news in Eastern Europe is the ongoing war in Ukraine. Russia’s invasion since February has proved to be a huge media sensation. But as us Brits sleep safely in our warm beds; how many children will sleep soundly as bombs drop over their home city of Kyiv? ~ The Kyiv Independent. Supporting independent journalism in Ukraine.

More news from Eastern Europe. Our Latvian brethren consider Estonia to be the friendliest nation.

But did you know that the happiest country in the world is actually now Finland? Yes, it is. It used to be Denmark, but Denmark now falls into second place.

More development news for Estonia as the Eu now pledges €354 million to boost the economy.

Well, talking about economy. Did you know the biggest cheese producer in the world is actually Denmark? Everyone thinks the Swiss are, but they are not!

Germany just celebrated its Oktoberfest! It is the largest of its kind in the world. Go to the site below to see next year’s adventures!

Crisis off the coast for these boat dwellers as rescue teams called out!

Well thanks for sticking with me. Those articles were what I found the most interesting over the last few days. I’d be interested to go down to the beer fest just for the sake of gathering intel for my posts! Pictures and all!

The book I am reading at the moment is Lee Childs Jack Reacher: Never go Back. They made two movies starring Tom Cruise based on this character.

As far as books go it is okay and easy to read and I am interested to know what happens to the character. If anything, it helps me relax.

Have a great day. Comment below with your struggles with mental health, and how you feel if you want to. Let us know what news caught your attention and what you want to see more of in the world!

Be In This Moment Present

A moment present

the gift that has no expiration

you are the fountain

the leaves on the trees

a ghostly apparition

only your soul can appease

*I chose Asia – Open Your Eyes. This song is communicating the importance of being in the moment. In the present. After all is said and done, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

See the world that stands before you now

VR Fun

Endlessly roaming some open land

holding but air in the hand

jumping and pushing and leaping them all

you can discover, there is no wall

hiding behind that big chunky eye glass

beaming to long for that outlasted digest

pulling the veil behind those thin eyes

you are stuck in your living room

hiding behind the disguise
