Would it be Nice

It would be nice to feel the sand under my feet

it would be nice to watch the clouds in the sky

and it would be nice if we could meet

and maybe not to spend any time to cry

would it be nice

or would it be wrong

if we could skate on ice

or just accept that we belong

it would be nice to see everything

perhaps never seeing anything

or just let it breeze away like nothing

at all had existed in my heart these days

would it be nice I used to ask

all I had to ask for, would it be.

Nature Photography Day

Nature photography day!

In 2006 the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) celebrated the first Nature photography day. Each year on the 15th June people are encouraged to promote the enjoyment of nature photography and to explain how imaged and used to advance the cause of conservation and protect plants, wildlife, and landscapes.

Each year, June 15 is designated by the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) to promote the enjoyment of nature photography, and to explain how images are used to advance the cause of conservation and protect plants, wildlife, and landscapes both locally and globally.

Fist Fighting the Undead (Cont.)

Welcome to this short story post. I decided to start a story on Medium to give me something to write on that platform. It really will be a short story. I don’t usually write in first person but oh well. I am also letting you go to read the first part by clicking the link at the end of this post. Hope you enjoy. This is an ongoing story.

The foul stench of death breezes under my nose and the woman cradles my torso. Lingering fear slips beneath my shallow breath and tickles my throat. “We fight to the death,” I add. She sits up and slumps her head on her hand and gazes into my eyes. I feel the doubt creep into my mind. We should fight, and we must. But the nameless wanderer like me, had that pale look of desperation and weakness.

“I can’t fight, I’m too weak,” she says, her thick European accent is hard to figure out, could be French. I was not in the mood to ponder such thoughts so I just glared back hoping she’d go to sleep. But sleep was not easy, wolves howled, seemingly closer than before, and seemingly in larger numbers.

“Don’t worry, we will be okay.” She lays back down and huffs. I know I can’t keep myself from worrying and have to open the tent netting. The fresh cool air brushes my face and the smell of mildew is already filling the fields. There is nothing to see and nothing to do but wait. Sunrise was many hours away, and they’d have to endure the isolation just a little longer. But no, through the thick black and slivers of moonlight I see not one but several corpses sway toward us. I go to move, and the stench creeps around the tent and claws inside…

Find the back cover and blurb for the upcoming novella – Beach Town: Survivors – due for release over the summer period (aiming for August latest).

Hi Everyone 🌟

Hi all you wonderful followers! I hope you are having a good productive start to the new month.

May I ask, how are you all?

I am okay, but I feel like I am surviving at the moment rather than thriving. I guess this has been the case for some time. Finishing the novella Beach Town: Survivors was a boost though. But I need to complete editing it and then publish it here for you all to read. I wrote it fairly quickly. You can read the ‘blurb’ or back cover here 👇 any feedback welcomed, or general thoughts on any aspect. If you just want to know a little more, then ask!

So life seems to be continually spinning around and passing by. They say the older you are, the quicker time passes. It feels faster over the last few years, probably because of everything going on.

Now onto something both ridiculous, and offensive: 👇 (I am not associated with these messages, the phone or anything else in this screenshot).

I want to know what led to this conversation. Sounds like the guy is the one in the wrong, but we don’t know what the woman said before this, so is quite possible she led him on in some way. Anyway, hilarious comments ensued such as ‘smooth talker,’ and ‘he’s keen.’

Gossiping around the kitchen table. Tastes like melon salad. ‘Gimme the sugar baby.’ I’m sure you’ll all feel well when you start eating smart tablets. Please remember to fold your tray in the upright position in the event of a crash landing.

I welcome any thoughts on the above messages. I found it both disturbing and funny, in the sense that I could not tell if this was serious. Maybe they are just pulling our legs? I’ll end of a free style poem;

World Parrot Day!

World parrot day! I hope all you bird lovers out there or parrot owners are having a great day. These are incredible looking creatures with vast wing spans and a large beak. They come in a variety of colours and have amazing personalities. They also get pretty big too.

There is around 372 species of parrot currently known! Most do live in tropical areas, such as the more hotter climates. As mentioned their beaks are quite big, but they are also curved, and they have real strong clawed feet for gripping. Parrots are highly intelligent which might explain why they are so popular among exotic pet keepers, as they can sometimes talk or mimic a human voice, which is something a lot of birds can do. When I say they are popular as pets, budgies and cockatiels are a type of parrot which is commonly kept in the home. The age range is also vast as some species are known to live as long as 80 years! Blimey.

Definitely one of the more interesting species of birds in existence. Please consider looking at the site below for more information.

The World is in Pain

The world is in pain and we must change now to prevent a worldwide fatal incident which will be detrimental to humanity.

The time for being selfish is over. We are now at a point in human existence whereby we cannot live as we currently do and not expect something bad to happen. In life you have a series of slow burning problems, with much bigger problems like war, famine, disease and extinction of species just to name a few. There are international organisations out there doing the work to help and save the planet and the people on it.

Some of the biggest issues are these: malnutrition and hunger (795m people not receiving the correct amount), aids (epidemic, 2016 1 million died from it), malaria, air pollution, lack of human rights, lack of education, gender inequality, conflict and war, displacement and global poverty (1 billion children live in poverty).

Organisations trying to improve and eradicate these issues include: Oxfam, doctors without borders, food and agriculture organisation of the United Nations, human rights watch, Bill and Melinda gates foundation, red cross, save the children, the Borgen project, the world bank, United Nations development programme, United Nations children’s fund (UNICEF), world food programme, world health organisation, world wide fund for nature (WWF).

What could you do to improve things? I would suggest research and education to schools, colleges and universities worldwide so that people are fully aware of the issues. I am not talking about telling them and then not doing anything. I am talking radical shifts, offering programmes to young people who want to go over to the disadvantaged, and suffering countries and help. Allow them the opportunity to go, fund the programmes well. It might incentivise the human race to become more compassionate. You can offer similar things in developed countries, programmes where people can help the homeless, the poor, the sick etc. Sure they could go work for a charity, but the majority don’t have hands on roles, they don’t work directly with the issues.

It results in a distanced vision of what the issues are, without really seeing them for themselves. The problems start with people not caring, because if they did the world would be a better place. The problem is also the mindset that things can’t change. If they couldn’t change then the organisations out there doing the work wouldn’t bother. We’ve all seen the adverts which proclaim to be helping, but when we see the results in person, it makes it so much more effective. It sparks ‘the inner good’ within the human heart, the compassionate desire to aid other beings. If the world is in pain, which means humans are in pain too, then we need to start being better people.

International Day for Biological Diversity

International Day for Biological Diversity is about our connection and relationship as humans to the natural world, earth. Without a healthy, varied and vibrant ecosystem to provide for our water, food, medicine, clothes, fuel, shelter and energy which we are completely dependent on, the world would be awful to be honest. The world should reconsider its stance on this issue.

If we don’t treat it with care and respect it will vanish. Sometimes it takes a lot of work, other times, the work can accumulate. So small changes that benefit the environment and wildlife, can contribute to an overall stronger and better outcome.

When you want to change, then change. Don’t feel like you have to. Don’t let destroyed rain forests, millions of killed animals, and dying ecosystems prompt that change. I feel natural awakening and acceptance of the issues are more important than being guilt tripped into them..

World Bee Day

The size of a marble

with the weight of the world

upon their noble shoulders

pollinating

recreating

a healthy planet

It is world bee day. Bees are so important to a humans healthy and varied diet that without them, we’d lose a lot of food that we eat, like apples. They are always being killed off, yet they help to produce 1/3 of our food supply. That is so significant that without them, the world could possibly starve to death. They also provide 1/2 of the worlds fibers, oils and other raw materials. They are lovely to watch and are vibrant and colourful. Bees are also crucial to creating many medicines, and honey itself has a ton of benefits. They don’t just serve humans with a food source either, they provide food for wildlife through their roles on earth. Lastly, bees help prevent soil erosion. Save the planet by saving the bees.
