The Civil Servant – A Zombie Apocalypse Tale (Episode 1)

Dale is twenty five, has short dark hair, a stubble, think body and peaks at five ten. He’s a former Royal Navy recruit come drop out, who determined the best bet for a career lay in the civil service. After background clearances, he made it into the crème da la crème – working as a civil servant in Buckingham Palace.

That was two years ago. Now though the story is very different. He lies in wait for a break in the screaming people outside the palace as they are torn to shred by the undead. A break to run, a break from the barrage of tormented cries. His ears, brain and eyes now beaten by apocalypse. A bloody unwinding, undead that stormed streets, ate people and had revolutionary strength.

He’s in the storage cupboard downstairs in the central hall of the palace; deserted of staff, military or royalty. The royalty replaced with gnawing at the gates, of distant peasants who whimper as they meet their gruesome demise. Dale holds his tongue, his breath and his position, with prayers focused on safe passage for the outsiders. Luckily for him the gates of the Palace are impenetrable, and so are the thick walls and doors of the Palace itself.

He’s burdened with one small grey backpack he carried to work, some days ago before the outbreak began. At first staff seemed unmoved, determined to stand ground with the assurance that the British military could overthrow a new, even more deadly type of threat then before. Behold they left en-mass, shaken and laden with betrayal. Dale thought it akin to treason to abandon London, to leave the pinnacle of British society – the Palace of the King. But they had, and he remained. His heart determined not only to survive, but to attempt to establish some sort of base. Given enough time he was sure he could open the gates to survivors.

Time was short, he had little food; his backpack carried a selection of some crisps, a ham sandwich, a chocolate bar and refillable water bottle, stuff he’d brought to work before being forced to ration it. So far he’d had half a bite of the sandwich but soon it would go stale, molded even. The Palace was well equipped though, and his ability to navigate the place were peak condition. He knew where the pantry was, the storage and the emergency storage – somewhere in the basement. The problem was Dale had spent so long in the room, peddled with thoughts of being eaten that he’d not managed to leave it yet. Tonight, or today, that would change. His silver watch on his left wrist showed around five pm, Tuesday, September. British weather being as it was would leave him cold, without heating he’d need some blankets.

The stuffiness of the dim room congested his nose, snot coalesced within his already irritated sinus passage. The smell that of dust and paper. The metal chair uncomfortable, digging into his lower back. He’d try to get out to look around soon, or so he hoped…

Stay tuned for more episodes. This is a story intended to be short, so it won’t be going all adventurous over London. I’ll write about London another time.

Best Places to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

Welcome to this post on the best places to survive the zombie apocalypse. You can never have too many options available and since we are always waiting for the day to come, why not start prepping and planning for it today? I always wondered how it much feel to own a boat and sail the sea for a long time. Perhaps a boat is one of the safest places? Truly though, we cannot assume safety anywhere and in any form. All views are my own and might not reflect your own selection.

A Boat – This had to be the first one. A boat is in fact the safest place to be because you are surrounded by water, which means zombies cannot climb or swim to you like humans. The downside is that you need to stock up on supplies and be able to stop ashore when needed. I’m not talking about big boats like a cruise liner, although you might want to choose that. A small boat with sufficient capacity should be enough. Think about it for a second, everyone is dead, why not borrow a boat for the apocalypse?

Prison – Taken from the Walking Dead. The difference is that you won’t likely have to deal with massive chunks of infrastructure missing, which means a solid and fortified base. You can choose a particular wing, or opt for a smaller prison. It will have everything you need like an infirmary, canteen, bedrooms, clothes washing facilities and food storage. A smart choice if you are in a group, but I’d imagine lonely if you weren’t in a group.

Skyscraper – A massive two-hundred foot structure with thousands of rooms. You have the choice of an apartment skyscraper or offices. Whichever you choose, beware of using the elevator, if they work as there isn’t anyone to fix it should it break. Might as well take the penthouse. Just stock up before moving in and be sure you have some sort of portable power so you can binge watch The Walking Dead on loop. Oh yeah, if you are an adrenaline junkie, you could abseil.

With those limited yet effective options, what would you choose? Do you imagine somewhere safer, more comfortable? The prison is undoubtedly the most uncomfortable and I would say a penthouse likely the most comfortable. Unless you were in the navy, in which case a boat would suit you. On a side note, you could fish on the boat but such a limited diet is not healthy plus the risk that infection is in the fish or water. Please share your dirty secrets below and like, comment, follow and reblog. Peace.

Night of The Living Deb: Movie Review 🧟

Night of The Living Deb!

Synopsis:

After a girls’ night out, endearingly awkward Deb wakes up in the apartment of the most attractive guy in Portland, Maine. Pretty boy Ryan only knows it was a mistake and ushers her out the door into a full-scale zombie apocalypse.

A horror | zombie | apocalypse | comedy | romance. Que Shaun of the Dead female counterpart.

Released | 2015

Run time | 1 hour 25 mins (movie is 1hr,20)

Starring | Maria Thayer & Michael Cassidy

IMDB | 5.5/10 & Rotten Tomatoes | 88%

I took a chance as I saw this movie available on Prime Video. I wanted to watch it before but never had the chance. Overall, a good funny movie with some classic zombie tropes and unexpected yet hilarious twists. This is a short review!

So not your typical movie, it has the girl going after the boy, the better looking and rich boy who has a model looking ex-fiancé. After a one night stand it is the man who disregards the woman, which is somewhat expected, but she is looking for more. They are forced together after discovering what they believe are zombies.

The pair survive and the movie has good acting and dialogue. I thought it was a cheap made movie until it started. Then I realised it was actually worth it. Whoever wrote it well done, perfect chemistry between main characters. Gets somehow funnier when they arrive at his fathers house. Typical zombie fighting. She is a reporter and wants to be a news anchor.

What sets this movie apart is the realistic relationship between the couple, which develops as the movie progresses. I found it quite heartwarming, despite the humour which I found consistent. I was going to give 4 stars but am giving more because of a twist. It turns out his father was responsible for unleashing a parasite on the water supply, which cannot be transmitted through bites. The fact the movie addressed this was excellent, finally a film which acknowledges how poor a bite is at passing parasites! Anyway it is only those who drink the water who are infected.

Highlight is the easy viewing and comedy, not being over the top, dialogue being top notch and acting great. One scene involving a woman in lingerie bouncing on the bed which was mistaken for sex noises did have me red in the face. Maybe I’ve grown out of that sort of humour, although I found the reaction of the bloke downstairs hilarious (tearing a sandwich apart as he wanted to ‘bang her’ again). It’s smart and witty and not too complicated. We get the happy ever after. Touched my heart on more than one occasion because I am a big softie. Do I recommend this? Yes, I do, if you like zombie, comedy, romance or horror, then consider it. I think of this like a more feminine version of zombie movies simply because of the focus on the woman.

A Story of Trust, Survival and Friendship.

https://www.wattpad.com/story/308318436-zombie-outbreaks

I have started a new short story on Wattpad called Apocalypse on Easy Street. Although called zombie outbreaks as well. Let me explain before we go any further. Zombie outbreaks is the parent of the stories within it. In other words, zombie outbreaks will consist of multiple stories. The first being the Easy Street story. If you understand then nod your head otherwise get on your knees for forgiveness.

The experience with Wattpad has been a bit up and down. I was reluctant to use it and am still a little reluctant to use it. It is free to use, but some authors have the options to make their content paid for. There is also the possibility of being published and turned to movie and tv which is why I think so many people use it. I am using it to firstly, create a story and see how it is received and secondly as a way to reach more readers. I would love some of my followers on here to go and give it a read, so I can be encouraged to either continue, if good or stop if bad. Soggy biscuits in tea anyone?

The story revolves around strong willed Ida, a 12 year old who lives a life under the watchful eye of her socialite parents. She doesn’t have many friends but is fascinated with her neighbour Kayla, who is 23 years old. On a day out, things don’t go as planned as it is Ida’s day off school and all she wants to do is blog at home. Her mother drags her out, and being stuck unable to even get off their street, Kayla pops up, being a known friend to the family and offers to take Ida for a while whilst her mother goes to town, to Ida’s relief. Soon though the problems in Kayla’s life become clear and things take a turn for the worse. At Ida’s home there seems to be something weirder going on, the neighbours have gone mad, insane and are attacking one another. The pair soon realise a once calm existence is overhauled, there is a zombie outbreak. What on earth are the pair going to do? They aren’t exactly besties, so how can they trust one another to survive? Follow the pair from the outbreak to the finish line, survival!

Thanks for reading, like, comment and follow and reblog if you enjoyed and head over to check out the new story. Many thanks, Wizard.

Beach Town~ [Paradise Gone Apocalyptic] – Joys of Writing

Welcome to the site of Psychedelic Wizard and author T. I appreciate all you following me, liking and commenting. You are all an inspiration to this humble soul.

I want to talk briefly about writing, specifically the joys of writing. The best part of publishing my novels was getting to see the covers. I think that really makes you feel good, because you know all the hard work is about to pay off as you release your work to the world.

I also seriously enjoyed writing the Beach Town novels. I do have another started, which I had to put on hold last year. I didn’t plan on writing more than one novel in Beach Town, but actually I found the island and the town and the people to be fascinating. I cannot believe what they have been through. It took over a year for the first novel to be written, and a lot longer to go from first draft to published. Then after publishing that, I had already started writing the 2nd book – Hope – in Summer 2019. I finished writing it around 9 months later and then spent a few more months editing and arranging book cover design. If you recall I was trying to push for October but ended up releasing in November 2020. I would have published the 3rd by now if I actually wrote it. But, I haven’t yet. We are now in 2022 and I feel like I should have at least wrote the 3rd book. I managed to start two other novels in 2020 but never got round to finishing them either. Sounds like excuses to be honest.

The back cover of my book! You can see the island of Beach Town, or more accurately, the beach shoreline. Fantastic picture. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beach-Town-Hope-Thomas-Maxwell-Harrison-ebook/dp/B08MPCNHSM/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3MWHE739TINSG&keywords=beach+town+hope&qid=1645826849&sprefix=beach+town+hope%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-1 The best part of finishing a novel is getting to see the cover.

But, I will finish the 3rd novel and I will do my best to make it the ultimate zombie fan dream. Not only has it already started as extremely dark and frightening, but the novel is going to be a rollicking thriller of adventure and survival. No spoilers my darlings.

Aside from seeing the finished book, the best part for me is the creative stage. The first draft, because that is where all the magic happens. Then comes the editing, which can also be magical and gives you a chance to sand the rough edges of your foundation. I find in the editing phase that actually more interesting thoughts come to me on what I should do with the scene. My second book had around 4 drafts before publishing. I think. I also made it exclusive to Amazon. As an indie self published author I do feel like it is hard to get the reviews. For some reason people leave negative feedback and I just know that they most likely didn’t read the book. But I don’t read reviews now, once was enough.

What do you think of writing? Do you enjoy it? Leave a like, comment and follow or reblog to show your continued support for this site.

A positive, happy song with beach vibes. Bald man, big energy. Made me think of sea waves.
